I haven’t written here in a while. Been a few weeks. I have been mysteriously really really busy all summer. Vacation… dance… planning more vacation… school plans… A NEW JOB… and writing – music, poetry, and still working on this book I started. Where did I find the time? Hell who knows! At night I guess.. when I am not online. Which, for as busy as I have been… it has been scarce! Plus, at my new job I am on a PC- for which I am very “PC Challenged” (Mac Girl here), so I don’t fiddle too much with my online stuff anymore. This has led me to write this post.
I am missing something in my life right now. I cannot quite put my finger on it. I got a wonderful new job doing things that I love to do- designing and creative work. My health is good.. although, my running has slowed down, but here I am, counting out my weeks until May 2010 to run the Flying Pig in Cincy. Oink Oink. 38 weeks! I have half of that to build my mileage up again.. eek. But back to the missing something. I am not sure what it is!? All my friends are around me and I try to keep up with them as much as I can. Some are busier than others but I still know they are there. Some of my summer plans got interrupted by outer forces, but then… those things will happen eventually.
I am still working on a commission that I got earlier this Spring. I am also making a lot of jewelry from my finds on the beaches I am traveling to.
But what’s missing???? I have no clue. If I find it.. I’ll let you know.
Oh! by the way…. it’s a Van Morrison day… listening to him never gets old. His music is like an old friend, always there and picks me up when I need it.

Of course by now, you all know that the “King of Pop” has passed on due to cardiac arrest. Michael Jackson was a pivotable part of my growing up. His music and dancing filtered everything my brother, cousins and I did. We even had a “Glove” to wear. We learned to Moon Walk, spin and sing Billy Jean over and over. Of course, when Thriller hit, we were glued to Mtv like it was the invention of television. My cousin in St. Louis was even fortunate enough to see him in concert.
Sadly with much due respect and admiration, he will be a huge loss for the music industry and every generation past and present. May you rest in peace great music legend. Thanks for all the greatness.

I have been listening to all sorts of different stuff this month. I am behind..eeeh. Oh well.
Who knew the Zac Brown Band could be so good?! I love the folksy country vibe they are giving me! It’s great chillaxing.. drinking … music. “Toes” hooked me. It’s all about sinking your toes into the sand, drinking a beer, playing your guitar and enjoying yourself no matter where you are! This is great music! Really… I can see myself taking this on the “playlist” down to South Carolina in a few weeks. There are many a great tracks on here! Oh and “Where the Boat Leaves From” is a good one too… as I said… can’t wait for the sand and surf in two weeks… taking my margarita maker too.
I got the BOOM BOOM POW on the brain too. Good GOD! Will the Black Eyed Peas never stop their good music that is fun?! Eek! I have used the new CD in my dance classes… it’s just plain fun. “Rock That Body” and “Party All the Time” pretty good dancing there too.
I am such a MUSIC nerd. I listen to so much different stuff. The new Dave Matthews Band “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King” – worth it. The sounds of Dave have not changed… they have grown. It takes me back to my college days when they first came on the scene. (YES I AM THAT OLD!) Haha…
Katie Melua- if you like singer/songwriter music…is wonderful. Her guitar melodies are incredible and the sound of her voice is impeccable. This is a listen to on a daily basis. Just do it… you may like it. Another lady I am loving…. Alecia Nugent. I love Bluegrass music. She is turning out songs that are incredible. Great gospel/bluegrass. She shows her roots in her music. This CD ranks up there with the Steve Martin “Songs for the Banjo” . Just incredible picking music! FUN!
I went thru my Grateful Dead music last month and discovered most of my music is on CD, tapes, and Vinyl! EEEK! So I went to ITunes and their collection was very great! I managed to get some songs I haven’t listened to in years. “Mexicali Blues” – a favorite…. their London live recording is impeccable! True to form!!!!!!!
Oh well… still got Kings in my IPod… listen to them frequentlly…. can’t get Caleb’s voice outta my head! BTW- they will be on the Today Show in concert (summer concert series) on July 31st. It’s a must see!!!
ttyl… more music ranting to come.

Searching.....
A few months ago, I met and found a great friend. I got to know this person. Thought this person was totally cool. Had tons in common with this person. Talked regularly with this person. Then suddenly, out of thin air, this person disappeared! ? What gives? Not too sure what happened. You have people come and go out of your lives. You meet people. Some you care for, some you don’t. Some remain at a distance, some become closer. Your true friends stay with you. So, how can this person I met months ago, who knows tons about me as I do them, just fall off the face of the earth? We were and are close… like family, like a sister is to a brother and a sister to a sister, brother to brother… you catch my drift. Now, there is this empty space that needs filled by this person and I cannot figure out how or who to fill it with because no one comes close.
What do I do? I don’t want to go on and fill this space with someone else. I just want to know where this person went. Why this person moved themselves out of my life with out telling me. It was not a phase. Phases in your life just don’t happen like that. Phases don’t last. They fade like the blue sky at twilight. Like the stars do when dawn opens up and breaks open the early daylight.
Where did you go my dear friend? I miss you!!!

Yeah it’s been a while. Stress is an ugly thing when you have to deal with it everyday and it feels like you are on a rollercoaster that never stops. I have been granted my exit to finally get off the ride!
I took a new position in the design field doing what I love to do- creative work! It has been three days and I am regretting nothing! My boss is a gem of a person and just such a nice man to work for! Quite a difference from what I left! It’s finally nice to feel like I am appreciated for the work I am doing! I feel like my old self again! No more drama!
Busy times tho that is for sure! I have tons of new music to write about but will have to wait for later when I am able to discuss it at length!
Tata for now!

The High Priestess
General Meaning: Traditionally called the High Priestess, this major arcana, or trump, card represents human wisdom. She can be viewed as a kind of female Pope, the ancient Egyptian Priestess of Isis, the even older snake and bird Goddesses, the Greek Goddess Persephone, or the Eve of Genesis before the Fall.
For the accused heretics who were burnt at the stake for revering her in the 14th and 15th century, she symbolized the prophecy of the return of the Holy Spirit, which was perceived as the female aspect of the Holy Trinity.
In the sequence of cards in the major arcana, the High Priestess appears as soon as the Fool decides he wants to develop his innate powers, making a move toward becoming a Magus. The High Priestess is his first teacher, representing the Inner Life and the method for contacting it, as well as the contemplative study of Nature and the Holy Mysteries.
About the High Priestess:
Theme: Get your ego out of the way and become attuned to a more spiritual view.
Astro Association: Moon
Element: Water
Number: 2
Alias: The Popess, Wisdom

I have been super super busy! Lots to do with summer coming on full force this weekend because it’s a holiday. Before we know it, summer **sniff** **sniff** will be over!! I am busy planning running schedule for the remainder of the year and which races I am going to do. Looks like I am going to be busy!! I am currently training three days a week and doing the Furman running method, Run Less, Run Faster http://www.furman.edu/first/. Seems to be helping although my shins are still giving me pain. I have to change the shoes..getting fitted and finding the time is the issue. Ran in my Sacouny’s (sp) yesterday and had no pain.. so maybe I have found the answer!! 5 miles later doing a tempo run and I felt great!
Onto other things…. I am a huge movie fan. I have been following the Cannes Film Festival. Seems there are some great talent and great directors there this week. I am a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino and am anxious to see Inglourious Basterds. I loved Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs. I am also interested in Alain Resnais’ Wild Grass. Anyways… you can go to www.festival-cannes.com to see what is happening daily. I believe it ends on the 24th of May- Friday. The Today Show spoke with Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino this morning (Wednesday). Looks quite WARM there… LOL. Everyone smart was wearing white to “deflect” the sun. Those who are wearing black… ouch.. sun. Too hot there for that!!

watercolour photo reference
Been working on some new music and writing! Having some trouble finishing a new song. Getting it recorded on Garage Band is my next feat. I am also busy creating a large (18×24) watercolour piece. I am hoping to finish it before I head out to South Carolina for vacation. So, the adventure begins to locate my necessary materials!
I got myself all settled for school. Summer and fall will be interesting. According to things, sources, etc. It should take me roughly a year to get my masters done. Then I’ll be a licensed educator… haha. I want to teach art either at the HS level or in the college setting. I think I’d prefer the college setting. We’ll see. I am sure it will require some “extra” needs for traveling… IE… a trip to London. The collection at the National Museum is a must see. Italy…. too. The Tuscan region is best know for its architecture and Renaissance art. More to come on this…
Music… ahhh… music. Currently…my iPod is playing a lot of the Black Keys! I love this band. They are from Akron, Ohio!! Not too far from me!!! As of late I have been listening to more Folk music. My good friend is an influence of this!! Thanks!!! I love a new upcoming artist, Robert Francis. I was hooked when I saw him on Carson Daily’s Show. He’s a phenominal musician!!! Of course I am a Bobby Long fan as well and Sam Bradley. I discovered them on MySpace Music….quite some time before “Twilight” brought them to light. Odd. They should have been recognized way before that.
Oh well… It’s a holiday weekend coming on. Probably will require some boating, going to the islands or out to a bar or two. AND some shopping. Need more clothes… ha ha..no, but like to think so!!
Well…….. ta ta for now. I will be back!

I am writing this in the comforts of my humble abode…. Otherwise known as my comfy bed. Monday came and went. I was very productive today and discovered some ways to improve my inability to be organized. My work load got done faster than usual. That is a plus!
I am still recovering from my run this weekend. Every part of my lower body hurts. I am just sore. I passed on my usual workout on Monday due to the soreness on my legs. I plan however to get my ass out of bed at 6 am and get a good three mile run in tomorrow. My sensor needs recalibrated. I need to commit myself to improving my running and getting back to being healthy again in my eating. Plus..my vacation is three mo away and I want to get a bikini or two on!
I have been listening to a lot of Pearl Jam lately. I also watched Into the Wild over the weekend after it was highly recommended by some friends to watch. What an incredible movie. I haven’t cried like that after a movie in a long time. Made me really thankful and look at my unneccesary material things. I enjoyed it very much. I also now know about the Magic Bus.
Well tata…for now

HAHA… no swine flu to report but there definetly a lot of Flying Pigs around this weekend with the 11th Annual Flying Pig Marathon going on in Cincinatti. I ran the 10k with shin splints. I trully believe that running in the right shoes is key. Mine are going in the bin to be given away. I still am sore today as I write this.
All in all the experience was amazing… as it was last year. My time last year was the same as this year. I am not sure on the official posting but I believe (according to my watch) that I ran it in about just 1 hour. 6.25 miles is good in an hour. I think I could have done better had it not been for the shin splints. So, I am going to embark on the shoe quest to get a new pair that works. Nikes don’t work. Ascics don’t either. So now what???? I am willing to fork over the cash if it helps. Trust me.
I think the grand total running the marathon today (Sunday) was 22,000 give or take a few. Wow … how amazing is that????!!!
All in all it was a good weekend. I have determined that I need to run more. Much more. I want to be in the very best shape of my life. Strength training and the cardio I do is helping but I think I need much more. So, this week will be about evaluating my runs and ramping it up a bit!!!
But anyhoo…. I am posting a few pictures. ENJOY!

Well.. yeah. It’s been a while! I have been extremely busy. Dance classes, running, soccer.. you name it. Busy. This weekend, I’ll be participating in the Flying Pig Marathon. It is a favorite of mine. This will make year #2 for me running this race. I am excited and very nervous. I remember the course from last year so I do know what to expect. I am dreading the bridges. There will be two to run up and down. Plus… lots of people. Last year’s weather was cold and rainy. This year it’s supposed to be nice and warm. Bring on the sunshine!!!! I am looking forward to spending time with my brother and sister-in-law as well as her sister and husband. A derby party is planned for Saturday afternoon.
Music…. I recently (been under a rock I think) purchased the Legacy version of “Ten” by Pearl Jam! WOW!!! Brings back so many memories of college. Yes.. I am dating myself but who cares!? It’s a great purchase. I am a huge fan of Eddie Vedder so I went on to get the soundtrack of “Into the Wild”. Excellent as well. I am putting that music in my play list for the run. I am also going to purchase “Into the Wild” to watch on my Ipod in my down time. I have been told it is a life changing movie. Hence the phrase “Getting on the Yellow Bus”.
The end of the month is here. That means summer is looming on us….. Put-in-Bay and the rest of the islands.
It’s a must go to if you live up here on Lake Erie. Even if you come to visit, it’s worth one trip there. Great drinks, great music.
Well… I’m heading out… gotta run tonight. Gotta pack for the weekend. Laundry calls too.
